In this report, we're looking at AMD and Intel CPU sales in the DIY enthusiast market by analyzing affiliate sales data for GamersNexus viewers and readers. As described in the video, the nature of such data is that it will be skewed toward an enthusiast audience and toward our recommendations, but we still have enough data to extrapolate an overall trend in the enthusiast segment. Intel still holds majority marketshare, but that doesn't keep a company alive in a segment -- it needs active, fresh sales for cashflow, since old CPU sales don't generate new money (at least, not outside of Enterprise). AMD has moved toward 93% total CPU sales per month in our latest data for November of 2019, leaving Intel with the remaining 7%. We'll look at this plot, average selling price, CPU series by popularity, and more in today's content.

At long last, AMD has launched their new Zen 4 CPUs, Ryzen 7950X, 7900X, 7700X, and 7600X, and they look great. Alongside the enhancements of socket AM5, these new chips look like they give Intel a run for their money... or do they? AMD has a bit of an issue of not being better than their best gaming chip, or better value than Intel's platform which makes some of these chips hard to recommend. And with Intel's Raptor Lake looming on the horizon, AMD's future might not look so bright anymore.

Many of these are obviously in short supply, but the content should still help in planning purchases assuming you get lucky and spot one in stock. Benchmarks include previously released data on video editing, programming and code compile, compression and decompression, FFMPEG, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, and more from the workstation category (like Blender). We also have gaming benchmarks to look at the best gaming CPUs of 2020, showing an upset in the second half of the year that tilted favor toward AMD and away from Intel's 10-series CPUs from earlier in the year. As always, you can find the full, in-depth reviews in separate content pieces. The goal for these round-ups is just to provide a flyover view of things.
