Gladiator 2 is the highly-anticipated sequel to Ridley Scott's 2000 period epic, Gladiator, starring Russell Crowe as the fierce Maximus. This historical fiction film set in ancient Rome was a critical and financial success, earning 12 Academy Award nominations and five wins, including Best Picture. The new film follows the story of Lucius, Maximus's young admirer from the original movie, now all grown up and played by Paul Mescal. The plot details have not yet been released, but fans can expect the same impressive production design, special effects, and thrilling plot as the original. Directed by Ridley Scott and written by David Scarpa, Gladiator 2 is set to be a theatrical release, although a streaming release on Paramount+ is also possible. This allows the trailer to focus on a specific actor or portion of the film. It could even change the plot or genre of the film entirely.
